n.b. This seamless transition on death of the incumbent prevents a slip between cup and lip. No risk of reflection, consideration, or review of the nature of monarchy.

Nothing personal, but maybe we could discuss some kind of democratic change and a little bit of wealth redistribution generally.

n.b. Myanmar, a chaotic country, in which the military junta are writing their version of history in blood.

News reported today states, four campaigners for democratic government have been executed after being charged with conspiracy to commit acts of terrorism.

The Global New Light of Myanmar is a distributor of news published by that government’s Ministry of Information.

It would be trite to discuss the freedom fighter versus terrorist dichotomy here. Body bags need labels. The families of the dead just want the bodies of their loved ones.

n.b. First, first time loser for 28 years. That’s the first time in 7 USA elections when a President has been binned after 4 years in the job. Some football managers last longer in their posts than that.

Let’s be frank about this, he’s had a go, grew his vote, but grew the opposition vote by more. He’s been fired.

Prop up a democracy

USA failed state

~

n.b. It is reported by the Organisation for Security & Cooperation in Europe that the operating costs of the USA elections have been partially covered from the pockets of the wealthiest people on the planet.

While the electioneers are estimated to have spent around $14 billion on campaigning, the costs of administering the mechanics of the voting system were supported by a donation of $400m from Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan. This donation had been necessary because the world’s richest nation has not fully funded its own democratic machinery.

That is what I call “interesting”.
