n.b. Why is this sense of awe at the winter night sky, the cycle of Moon, Mars and other planets, so powerful at this later stage of life?

Here, the Moon rises over Morrison’s. Mars followed soon enough, both chasing the bright ball of Jupiter, with some its own satellites just imaginable.
