True Colours

He’s probably been on the whisky again

Frankly spoken

No longer politic

Manners shed as if clothes when day is done

Cast to the floor not folded neat

Offending all with casual bigotry

Not caring that we love our daughters sisters mothers.

Not caring what he spouts of women and their ways

What he would do if he had his

(and he hasn’t even started on the gays)

We leave

One by one and in twos or threes

With few words

So he is left

With the weary barman

Who tots up the till and then calls
