n.b. Russia ‘furious’ that even Switzerland has frozen Russian assets, the BBC reports. The rest of us are surprised, to say the least. A shift in attitude of the mountain folk, who have many friends in Russia. Malta, Mexico, Israel, Cyprus. Is the world changing for the better?
The Swiss are also hosting a peace conference for Ukraine, but without Russia. So it is a gathering to express solidarity, rather than a peace conference. Some Swiss journalists have suggested that it will mean a boost for the tourist trade, if nothing else.
This is how diplomacy works, while Ukraine is gradually boiled away.
