n.b. On a day of joy and love, at a wedding, filled with many wonderful conversations, at least one will stay with me for the rest of my life. Journalist for Ability Today, Khaleel Chima, told me about his vital work assessing powerchair accessibility, as well as sharing his love of football.

The clip below shows Khaleel playing in goal at powerchair football, a game he started playing after passing two tests for driving his powerchair.

To play in goal in any football game, the player must watch the game intently, anticipate the movement and intention of the attacking players and take a particular pride in preventing opponents scoring. Blocking, intercepting, quick-thinking and bravery (it is said all goal-keepers have to be a bit crazy – or at least have a very good sense of humour), are all qualities of goal-keepers, because it is a thankless role, where the keeper knows it is impossible to stop every shot going in the goal.

Khaleel also interviews people for Ability Today. He is hoping to interview the captain of the England powerchair football team soon.

Yes, the wedding was wonderful. A day that brought many people together from all over the world. Thank you for inviting us all along, with love and wishes for a life-time of happiness to Sameer and Victoria Khan. What a day!
