Only seen the man on telly
Knocking a ball into goals
Headers, volleys, bicycle kicks
A back-heel
The pitches were so poor
So much mud
Even on a colour TV
The games from Manchester
Appeared to be played in black & white
Denis Law, a slight, feisty Scot
Held his sleeve cuffs in his fists
Stretched his shirt from wrist to collar
Kids copied that on winter days
Tried his tricks and when one went in
Stood with right arm aloft
But no one could mimic his smile
For when he scored he beamed
Every goal (except that one for City)
Reminded me footy could still be just a game
