on the breeze

I hear talk of spring
It’s coming! the door-step hope
snowdrops, primroses

full throated trilling
of robins, blackbirds scuffle
dunnock atop crown

busy rookeries
jackdaws soften their chatter
crows lift up in pairs

tumble of loose twigs
below doves’ poor nest site choice
catkins jangle loose

pollen disappates
on spiteful easterly blow
traffic lights on red

three car cortege passes
