Hey!
it’s turned to amber
slow down
proceed with caution
be alert
prepare to stop

from the north-side of Lac Leman
looking south
to winter’s last refuge
the Alps are obscured
by a scarf of smoke
that is slowly curling
around Earth’s neck
like a python
driven from the forest
by fire

Canada turns to charcoal
the full Moon flickers on amber

~

n.b. That mist on the lake, I assumed was heat of summer air on cool lake water, is smoke funnelling east across the Atlantic Ocean from Canada’s forest fires. I swear, I can smell the Earth burning.
