on human rights

It is the first human right
Vital, fragile, brief
The right to life
Which, quick or slow, must end
In a car crash, flood,
Obscene bomb attack at a café
A dog bite, disease, famine
Or in the night, when asleep
Pray that it might be so
A happy death
Should be the second of our rights
