It was a difficult time between us
The train I'd often catch replaced by bus

Two hundred fifty miles through England
Reconciliation roses in hand

Wilting as the air-con churned out dry heat
Petals accumulated at my feet

The stop at Didcot allowed time to call
Sweet connection to my Lauren Bacall

From a phone box with a urinal's aroma
I could reassure I'd soon be with her

A flat mate offered to take a message
Explained my love had gone on a passage

Crossing country, trying the usual train
But due to engineering works between Paignton and Thetford buses will be replacing trains this weekend, again
