n.b. Erich Fried a German poet wrote about the cruelty and cynicism of the Vietnam War.  His poem 'Toy On Target' had the following note:

"Author's note: On the day of the Vietnamese 'Festival of the Children' U.S. bombers dropped toys, even on villages where shortly before children had been killed by their bombs."
